A site about lugs, tan sidewalls, maybe jazz, classical, punk and bluegrass, local riding, worldly riding and people, cool cats, lame ducks, 110 bcds, wool, and smelling like hell after a long ride.

They also have a bunch of carradice catalogs. If I were homeless and needed to live out of paniers this is probably how I’d set my bike up.

Found it through these guys who had a post about some ancient carradice panniers.

I think everyone should have gun clips on their bike.

Cool old bags. During one of my cyclical (pun intended) purging of cycling junk aquired over the years, I foolishly got rid of a set of 4 mel pinto branded panniers. These were imported canvas bags in the french (now more like japanese) style. Similar to the Ostrich bags Velo-Orange sells, but maybe not quite as nice.

On the other hand, I hope I don’t have to ever travel again with more than would fit in a nelson longflap, arkel bar bag, and camelbak hawg, which is the setup I use now.

    Hjalti,
Can you do over nighters with that setup?

In warmer/fair weather it is fine. I can fit a tarp, sleeping quilt (old poncho liner), and small thermarest in no problem. Cooking can be sterno or esbit stoves. Still needs some refinement. I look to the ultralight bike camping list for inspiration.

Cold weather I can add some ortleib front rollers and fill full with warm stuff.

I’m also looking for more offroad worthy packing plans. Maybe stuff sacks on a rack, and/or a frame sack.

    Cheers
