frederick hanukkah ride- december 16th

dreidel.jpg60 mile or so ride, in Frederick, up in the south mtn range, dirt, chip roads, back roads, some fireroads, ect ect. Cory is leading it, no cue sheet. Slow pace for the fatties, Cory will drink bourbon to slow himself down. We will drink it to speed ourselves up. Lunch in the middle, somewhere, pack a sandwich. Meet at Cory’s casbah/crabshack/hipster hideout, on W. 6th street. Its easy to recognize, its the only house on the block that looks like a salmon coloured fishing shanty. Gather forth @ 8am, leave around 9. Email me @ jamesjohnsonart(at)yahoo(dot)com for more details.

    we’re gonna need lights.
we can stash them at my sister’s house, which is about 38 miles in.
it’s looking good and i’ll have the route up shortly.
and there are multiple bail-out points, on what will be a suprisingly primitive ride all close to town.

    the route is out.

i dont think this climb has enough riding. or is it the reverse of that? also: it needs more than 3 printed pages of turns. this isnt nearly confusing enough. can we have more things like: you kinda turn left after the barking dog barks thrice @ the 3 mailbox with shotgun damage? that would improve matters.

Your link kills both firefox and IE for me.

I’ll see if I can get permission. Saturdays are usually kids aikido and basketball, but maybe the missus would let me out. I’m pretty sure I’ll be bailing before 60 miles though.

John, the link makes those browsers crash?

Also: anyone else you know who might be into this kind of ride, feel free to invite them. We just need a rough number so we can plan the pancakes and jelly donut quantities. This wont be a killer paced ride at all. I am monumentally slow and Starmer is even slower than me.

  6. Johnson December 7th, 2006 7:21 am

Starmer: do you need to borrow a good front light? I have an led handlebar lamp that aint bad. Its not great, either. but it works well enough.

    IE: Just hangs.

    Firefox:
A script on this page is causing mozilla to run slowly, if it continues, your computer may become unresponsive.

Message seems to pop up for each leg of the overlay track. Ouch. 20 minutes of patient clicking ‘cancel’ got it all going.

Looks like a fun route. If I make it, I’ll bring gears!

I’ll mention this on the bike site. SSO might be interested, its his kind of ride.

Man, I’d love to do this but I am booked on another ride that day.

FYI - I opened it in Firefox. One message about scripts hanging but I hit continue and everything loaded fine.

This ride most certainly looks Trump Tight.

However, if my memory still works, “salmon coloured fishing shanty” is a recycled joke.

Also, sadly can’t make this event.

Also FYI, when thinking about the fire road and single track sections of the route, it will be muzzleloading hunting season up in the ’shed.

  11. Johnson December 7th, 2006 1:59 pm

i’m not sure how much singletrack we will be hitting. besides, my bike has a bell that rings constantly on off road sections.

  12. starmer December 7th, 2006 2:26 pm

    We could always rock these:

  13. cory December 8th, 2006 5:50 am

    i’ll wear orange.
there are only two real singletrack sections and if we stick together we shouldn’t get shot.

if the link hurts your lappy, maybe try to go to routeslip.com and look for MD, Frederick, then Chanukkah.

it should be fun and gears will be helpful.
    i’ll be rocking them.
