foot-down competition

Kind of funny, we tried to organize something like this a few years ago in Baltimore (Derby in the Dirty Dugout). It turned into more of a freak show with some weird messenger guy trying to pick a fight with Johnson every 5 seconds and another guy who was too worried about his pristine track bike to let anyone get close to him.

Anybody riding in a derby should know up front that there’s a chance of broken bike parts, if you are worried about scratching your frame then you shouldn’t be in the circle.

The video is weird though, grabbing handlebars and such just to easy of a way to take people out. Every derby I’ve ridden in has the simple rule of “hands on the handlebars”. It takes more skill that way. And as riders get taken out they form a cirlce around the remain ones who are pedaling. The circle inches in until the last riders are in a very tight area for the final battle.

Was this one of the derbies you’ve ridden in?
