Bike To Work Day: DC

Last friday was Bike To Work Day, I showed up at 8am at the “pit stop” in Freedom Plaza accross from the Wilson Building (DC City Hall).
Here are some more lugged bikes I saw.
This sweet ‘Nago with the white cable housing.

The carbon fork kinda ruins this Vanilla.

My friend Garrett’s LeMond and his roomate Casey’s Raliegh original.

Nerdy commuter bikes sure look a lot like nerdy touring bikes.

june 3rd ride proposal
mel and i will be in frederick on the 3rd o’ june and we’re looking to do a ride sunday. i propose an easy 25 mile route, starting east of middletown at the south mtn creamery. we’d make a rough loop over to gathland state park, eat lunch and head back to the cars, eating ice cream at the end. what more could you want? beer… well. frederick has plenty of that. anyway, who’s game? proposed rough route diagram http://www.routeslip.com/routes/41759.

I’m pretty sure that Jimmy Levan doesn’t ride lugged bikes….
the complete lack of any safety equipment is kinda rad…I bet he’s wearing a cup.
4 commentsJust some random BMX footage from over the winter
I got a digi vid camara in january and have been filming things here and there…so I finally got a computer together that could handle (very poorly) editing the footage. I JUST got the chance (since I’m sick and at home) to put something together that was the highlights of my winter.
Gotta love Hutch goofin’ around and makin’ fun of you know who.

1 commentCarradice Hacks
Wallingford Bicycle Parts has a section on hacks the people have used to mount their carradice bags. I think the above picture is the best hack, I could use some quick release system for my bag. There are definitely some guys who went overboard with the hacking though, but I guess if you have a welder or a cnc machiner then you have to use it for something.

No commentsAbout Finetoothcog
The easiest way to sell a stolen bike is on the internet using services such as Craigslist and eBay.
Finetoothcog takes over the menial task of scanning these sites.* Like a ‘fine tooth comb’ the fine tooth cog covers the electronic sales methods and keeps you informed of bikes for sale similar to the one you describe. It sends you an email digest each evening and provides a webinterface to viewing what bikes are for sale similar to yours.
back on the horse
I was glad to see today the John has a commuter/road bike with gears again after we kept breaking his, everytime he rode with us.
check his bike to work pics out at flikr. (and some nice pics of the bike.)
3 commentsride your bike! get to work!
OK, so it’s ride to work day. (that’s in the US only I think.)
Veronika didn’t know so she rode her bike to work anyway.
Hey it’s Friday! I guess I might go ride around the block and get back to work.
