650b project. (snuck pucks)

ok i am working on a new 650b randonneur bike.  its gunna pretty ghetto, but in a cool, parts from 5 decades kinda way.  its ok, because the oldest parts are also the lightest, and also the ones that if they break, i’ll loose teeth.  awesome!  so far i just need wheels and tires.  i need money first.  anyone wanna buy some art?  i have a stock pile.

current build list:

frame and fork: trek 560 frame, which seems like a go fast guy bike from the 80s.  nice lug work, needs new paint mainly cause its purple.  no tire clearance, so i have to convert it.

super cool headset hanger.  guess: 60s.

mafac racer brakes: 10 bucks a freezethaw for 3 pair.

GB rando bars: old, freighteningly light, and curvy.

mafac levers

zephyr lite cranks

ok thats all that is interesting, really.

here are some pics.

ok 105 is lame but it shifts great.  please note internal derailluer wiring.  hotness.

i got those sweet stem shifters of a bike in a dumpster.  i’m working on some wood ones to replace them.  although they work great.  note sparkly purple paint, as well as nice lugs, and odd green growth.

mafac hotness.  cool features: they use unthreaded cantis, so i can use my mathauser pads.  they are french.  they have a cool logo.  they use a shift cable as a straddle wire, not some bunk centerpull specific crap.

ok thats all i got for now.

  1. Internal routing is ridonkulously rad. I know we talked about it last week and it’s nice to have confirmation that similar ideas can be created organically in their own vacuum. I can’t wait to show you my CX bike which will carry out this same idea, differently, in it’s own rad way.
