So I stripped down the white Bianchi Strada LX that is Christines road bike and threw on my fixed wheel and a set of 90′s Sugino Impel cranks ( crap ) with a dope 64mm BCD and a 34 Tooth Sugino ring and my KKT bmx pedals and a 13 tooth rear cog and went for a 20 mile road ride sunday with Mark ( riding his San Jose fixie ) and Damien ( pulling Hutch in a trailer for training ) and loved it.
Even the spinning so fast I was bouncing out of the saddle with smoke coming out of my hip joints part…I know that 32-13 on 175mm cranks is stoopid but c’mon, I’m so the “run what you brung” dude…AND at least I took off the KMC half-link BMX chain I was running…and I’m still running front and rear brakes so I’m SO not cool like the townies…but lucky for me I’ve never really worried too much about fitting in with everyone. The best part was cranking into a downhill and rolling at speed tucked with my feet on the shift levers I didn’t take off the downtube listening to my BB and chain burn apart like it was re-entering the atmosphere. I’m currently searching for a frame in the 57-60cm size so I can put my stuff on that and give Christine her bike back….so if you have any leads, let me know please.
