yeah, i have ridden it mostly in warm weather on a geared bike and in pieces.

plus i grew up around sugarloaf, so know those roads too, and can do on the fly re-routes as required.
(and I am not even sure if some of these roads exist, though! one involves fording a small river!(maybe 25' wide) even as a dirt trail. part of the route was a driveway that some friend of a friend holed up on at his house for an armed standoff with the law years back.)

HAHAHA! yep, you pretty much nailed it...
I was mostly thinking of the descents as super treacherous on a fixed gear bike. They would be fine on a geared bike or with the freewheel side on.
Don't think the ride isn't totally perfect and probably the most beautiful you've ever planned sight un-seen...it's just with the weather expected I don't think I could do it without quadruple pnuemonia and feelingless fingers/toes. Which is the main reason I won't do it. It's a freakin' rollercoaster though...with a good bit of lazy rolling hills that would be great for chatting...but, it's not a ride I would want to finish in the dark. There wasn't a single street light and most of it was through covered lanes...with a windy road you wouldn't want to lose track of. There were seriously some spots where if you went off, you'd fall really far or into something sharp and pointy. It IS the PERFECT daytime warm weather ride though and I will do it in the next summer for sure.
