		<description>um, chains are almost 100 percent efficient.  Derailleurs only add a marginal amount of friction.  According to Sheldon Brown, chains in enclosed chain guards with oil baths, ala old british city bikes, can last virtually forever.  That said, with prolink, its pretty hard to wear out a chain, at least on a road bike.</description>
