A site about lugs, tan sidewalls, maybe jazz, classical, punk and bluegrass, local riding, worldly riding and people, cool cats, lame ducks, 110 bcds, wool, and smelling like hell after a long ride.

dirt road database update

so without yer knowledge, the database has been pushing forward. is it called the database? no. did i mastermind it? not reallby joe whitehair is on board, but he might have been two PBRs to the wind when he said he was. they were a dollar. i mean. cummon. so jay has been working on posting some dirt roads in frederick county, i spent the day teaching kids final cut pro entering roads from the fredrick county rural roads pdf that joe lent me, and so there is quite a bit of info already. right now its just frederick co, with a few roads in VA, in montgomery county. I am working on a seperate one for centre county, PA. I think the key is going to a super simple website that organizes things by state, then county. maybe each county/state could have a dirt road count next to it. right now i’ll start with that blog i keep going on about, so at least the database has a temp home until i learn how to make a website. (over spring break, i swear). wait, doesnt rob know how to do simple html?

check the blog for what we have so far, a quick users guide to labeling and symbols, and other stuff. if you want to add content to the new blog, or join it as a writer, let us know in the comments (ie leave some contact info) hell, that goes for this blog too.

the new blog’s title is dirt road datebase, but its home on the web is dirtdata.wordpress.com

    Ello ello.

I added your site to my reader the morning after you tossed it my way the last time we ran into each other.
I searched for the contact link for a good week before settling into the life of a fly on the wall. I almost got off my ass in time to order a jersey…almost…procrastination rules my blustery VT kingdom.
I kick myself daily for holding off this long (I came dang close when you posted the Poultney pics, but work was keepin me busy). This shout out is long overdue.

I recently moved from B-Town down to Waterbury. A few of the trails there come highly recommended, ski resorts are less than 20 mins away, and the local brewpub (The Alchemist) is second to none. I would love to see you guys if you ever happen to be headed north.

Congrats to all those involved for maintaining such an entertaining and informative site. I dig the concept of your dirt road database. I’m gonna try to get a few of my old haunts on there sometime this spring / summer.

Truth is, it’s been years since I’ve made it onto a bike, but I’ve been rockin the resistance trainer at home almost every day (since November) to get my endurance back up. I plan on hittin the road and checkin out the local trails as soon as the season starts back up.

No hard feelins if you’re too leet to ride with a noob. My drinkin arm is mighty as ever…I’d settle for yoinkin ya for a beer run.

too leet? whats that? we’re slow as fuck. we call it touring but, thats just an excuse to be slow. mel and i’ll be up this summer, cause we got that property in east poultney to work on. there is fantastic riding up in stowe, although i’m sure waterbury’s got it as well. we’ll definately have to get up with you this summer. if you have the urge to write for this blog, we are always looking for new correspondants. basically you can type whatever, and people listen. its amazing.
