2 commentsWhy make a recyclable bike?
“I was looking at bicycles and how people use them and one of the main problems to me seemed that they were too valuable. People don’t want to invest in a bike which cost a lot of money and then leave it on the street where it could be damaged or stolen. So my main goal was to completely devalue the bike into something that everyone had that could be thrown away, left anywhere and you wouldn’t have any worries about it.”

Critical Mass “protests” kind of fall in that gray area of legality and results. But this is just ridiculous, other than getting on the local news, possibly causing accidents or deaths, the amount of awareness that comes out of “protests” like this is debatable.
3 commentsS24O : Summer Solstice
The Sub 24 hour Overnight during the pivotal point of summer. The longest day of the year with a full moon to boot. We ( Casey and I ) cycled up into the Frederick Watershed and camped out at a well known site at the bottom of the drop trails.
My Hercules was all ready to go, until the pedals went wonky and dried up on me and started skweeking…I didn’t realize how easy it is to rebuild the Shimano AX-600 integrated pedals until we returned. In true Cory fashion, I rode Christines late 80’s Bianchi Strada LX which was too small for me and was geared for flying on flats…not climbing. We loaded up with gear and some bottled spirits and headed out from my house in downtown. We rode out toward the Fishing creek reservoir and headed up the gravel into the shed. We pretty much rode up the entire climb. I did need to push a couple of times due to no granny gear front ring and Casey walked with me once until he realized that pedaling his bike was easier than pushing.
Arriving at the site at the fall of night, we had a great mild night of camp fire, brewha-ha, and talk. We decided to set up the tent around 1am and were awoken the thud-thud of what was either a trail runner or a sasquatch at 5am. After the most powerful and bitter black coffee EVER brewed, we packed up and got ready to head out. BUT, of course…, Casey had a flat. We climbed up the rest of the gravel to Hamburg road and descended at MACH 3 back into the village. It was awesome.

nutty christians with tunics
so i was downtown about a year ago, and there were these assholes in suits and sashes, with big red banners, looking like nazis with theology degrees. i was pissed enough by their presense and chanting that i wrote them a letter. They are the American T*F*P, which stands for tradition family and property turds, fucks and penis wrinkles. the W is silent. Anyway, i still get thier insipid newsletter which they subscribed me to without my knowledge, and sometimes i open it, and fire off another letter.
Here are some gems from the most resent addition newsletter.
Praised until recently as dogma, Darwin’s theory of evolution is now fading away, discredited by the same science that bore its poisoned fruit. Instead, the Christian vision of a supernatural design is being increasingly affirmed.
“Evolution is now a datum proven beyond any reasonable doubt and no longer a theory, it’s not even worth taking the trouble to discuss it.” This is what a spokesman proclaimed at the Festival of Science held in Genoa in November 2005, thereby neglecting a very important aspect of modern science—the need to be open to new perspectives. Instead, the truth is quite the opposite. Paradoxically, evolutionists are taking an ever greater distance from empirical science and are wrapping themselves up in a dogmatism that borders on ideological fanaticism.
sounds well informed right?
they also dip their hands into the green movement, turning it brown in the process:
“Václav Klaus refutes global warming hysteria, not so much from a scientific approach – which he admits is beyond his field of expertise – but rather from the standpoint of an accomplished economist and politician. While this may sound odd at first glance, it makes for a fascinating and utterly convincing read.”
yeah and i bet an unbiased and fact filled read as well. Luckily, he’s Cory’s President not ours… oh wait ours is just as bad.
“Another of President Klaus’ observations shows that when predicting future crises, environmentalists ignore technological advancement, which continually develops more efficient and cleaner ways to produce energy and provide for society’s needs. By ignoring this fact, they are able to predict seemingly catastrophic risks that have no basis in reality.”
He must mean advancements like Hummer H2’s and decreased funding for public transport.
Anyway, if you have time and some pent off anger, look em up and fire off a message. I won’t set the blog up for constant spam by making a link.
What does this have to do with bikes? slightly less than nothing.
