Okay final date is.... Sunday the 1st of Feb. Nobody had declined that date. Why didn't James list Jan. 31st? That's a Saturday...hmm. Doesn't matter the restaurant is open Sunday. We'll be going no matter what unless there is ice on the road. Stay tuned to this post in case the weather is questionable.

FLASH: mel and i added a super secret dirt section last evening, that's less than 200 yards long, but looks fantastic! limited time only! soon to be paved!

ride the bike you are most comfortable on, and thats the right bike for the ride! unless that bike is a cervelo. or a mod trials bike.

general cold weather info for those that hate the cold: keeping the core warm is more important than even keeping your feet warm. body cold = cold toes. sock+plastic bag+toe warmer is often warmer than two socks. two can, if the shoe is too small, restrict rather than promote circulation. like mel said, tape up vent holes, if ya got em.

"there will be some dirt, even if its just a loop around hood college’s running path. nothing you cant do on balding 23s, but 32s are always what we roll with, minimum. anything skinnier encourages so called ‘fast’ riding, which we ya know, cant muster the energy for."

I just gotta complicate things.
Trek Pilot=don't even think about it
Mariposa= gots 29's on it
Trek FX= gots 32's so bob's your uncle that's it with crank bros, 2pair smartwool and hand me down shoes from one of John G's kids

Jeannine, about the footware... I don't have winter cycling shoes either. I use platform pedals, shoes with room in them for toe warmers, I use duct tape for any holes and I'm good to go. That technique works like a champ everytime... just sayin'.
