Czech Championship Cross Post

So yesterday we hosted the Czech National Single Speed Championships 2009/Mistrovství České Republiky v Single Speedu 2009 here on the edge of Prague. It was a snowy 27km lollipop loop, with over 22km of forest single and doubletrack. i had haphazardly marked the twisting trail 2 days before in the fresh, and several racers got a bit turned around, but I don’t think anyone got too lost, or left out in the woods to freeze (we’ll probably have to wait a few days to see on that one!)

The weather was cold but the trail was a good challenge and it seemed like everyone had a great time. We had 24 riders start and most finished :) Plus we had about 8 photographers. We’re waiting for more photos to show up, but click through for the ones we’ve linked so far.

I managed a respectable? top ten finish, and managed to drink a few, so all was well. Veronika survived as the chief of support staff, managing to not have our kid at the race in the -11°C (12°F) weather.

Damien was one of our sponsors, so so official race t-shirts will be making their way stateside this spring!

  1. Congrats Cory. Although according to the results you probably would have done better if you had an á, ř, or š in your name.

  2. yeah haczeks (the v’s over letters) are definitely an advantage.
you can pedal away while your competitors are out of breath from trying to hack up (I mean say) your name!
